How should I introduce myself..? Let’s see…
My online username is “starbiit.”
Strangely enough I did not get it from Super Mario Galaxy (the things you collect in that game are star bits). While coming up with a new DeviantART username back in 2013 I thought, “I like stars.. orbit is a good combination.” Two “i’s” because it’s such a common username. If I remember correctly, the original “STARBIT” online was (is?) a really cool furry artist. Thus “starbiit” was born. Funny enough there is a “starbiiit” (3 i’s) out there that’s also an artist. They accidentally tagged my profile on Instagram instead of their own.
I go by “brie” offline and in closer friend circles. My full name isn’t even spelt with an “e.” In college, I had a coworker that nicknamed me “brie cheese.” It kind of stuck with me since.
I don’t mind being called star or brie, whichever you’re comfortable with c:
As of this post, I am 26 years old. When I was a teenager, I remember anything over 25 sounding old and more experienced, but it honestly doesn’t feel like it. I'm sure the 2020 pandemic to blame. I don’t like bringing up my birthday due to a not-so-great childhood experience, but I treat myself to tiramisu every year anyways. Though every year I lowkey hope someone other than family remembers and brings up my birthday.
I’m an artist based in California. Like many creatives, I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I can explain my art journey in full detail another day, but I did go to college for animation. It wasn’t the most positive experience for me (socially), but the things I did learn were great. Unfortunately the animation industry climate isn’t doing so great thanks to corporate greed and AI, so I’ve been looking for other ways to keep earning from my art that isn’t “just work for Disney lol.”
Aside from art, I spend the rest of my time playing video games. Namely the critically acclaimed MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV. I play a ton of that. I have many thoughts about being casual with content but also getting myself into savage and ultimate raiding. It’s important for me to mention that Splatoon was one of the first online gaming community I was fully a part of. There are people from that circle that still follow me on social media today. More thoughts on that in the future if it ever comes up.
I am also passionate about stationery and journaling. If anyone ever brings up journaling I get excited. I’ve been using the Hobonichi Techo for 4 years now. It’s expensive, but it has made my life so much better. I will definitely talk a lot about my current tools, past journals, and stationery hauls in the future.
Oh, I am also in a long distance relationship of 6 years (as of this post). He goes by “Goolloom” online and you’ll see his name pop up from time to time as we continue to navigate the distance (hopefully not for much longer). I’m in America and he’s in Canada. There’s about 3500+ miles and a 3 hour time zone difference inbetween us give or take.
I’ve probably missed some other stuff, but this blog is (hopefully) long term. Plus you can see the basic rundown on my carrd’s “about” section and view my art gallery there.
Take care ☆彡
