Why I love attending the Renaissance Faire

I thought I wasn’t going to enjoy this year’s Renfaire, but I’m starting to understand why I’m always drawn back to it.

I’m not surrounded by LGBTQ+ communities often. RenFaires bring it home for me.

It feels like Queer Joy.

I can freely be myself and use it as a playground to experiment and learn how to express myself. I use the Faire as an excuse to express my gender identity.

I'm surrounded by like-minded folks and people who care. Artists and performers who create against all odds in the world right now, and it is beautiful!!!

This is my 4th year attending the RenFaire. Each year I make it a goal to go out of my comfort zone. I think I did exceptionally well interacting with the performers and talking with other attendees this year. I complimented a lot of people's outfits and asked about their craft. I saw a brand new performer (Mornyng Knight) who now gives me gender envy LOL. They're exceptionally gay and I'm now lowkey obsessed with them.
